Every Julia Bartsch piece is individually handcrafted in the Paris atelier. Due to the artisanal nature of the work, no two pieces are ever perfectly identical. Minor variations in surface, finish, texture, proportions or other handcrafted details are a natural consequence of the making process and contribute to the individuality of each piece. These variations are not considered defects. Where natural gemstones are used, differences in colour, inclusions and internal characteristics are inherent to the material and should be regarded as part of its unique beauty rather than imperfections. Product photographs and videos are intended to illustrate the work as accurately as possible. Because every screen reproduces colours differently, slight variations between the appearance of a product on screen and the finished piece may occur. Where dimensions, weights or measurements are provided, these should be understood as approximate values resulting from the handcrafted nature of the work. As Julia Bartsch continually develops her artistic practice, subtle refinements to future collections may occur over time. Such developments form part of the natural evolution of the atelier and do not affect the authenticity or originality of previously created works.
-
Julia Bartsch jewellery is handcrafted exclusively from precious materials, primarily 925 sterling silver and 18-carat gold. All precious metals are purchased from suppliers certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) and consist of recycled precious metals wherever possible. As natural resources, precious metals and gemstones possess inherent variations in colour, texture and appearance. These characteristics are part of the material itself and do not constitute defects. Silver jewellery weighing more than 30 grams and gold jewellery weighing more than 3 grams are hallmarked in accordance with French regulations to certify the purity of the precious metal. Natural diamonds and gemstones may be accompanied by internationally recognised grading or gemstone certificates where applicable. The availability of certification depends on the nature and size of the stone and follows standard practices within the international gemstone trade. Natural and laboratory-grown gemstones may both be incorporated into bespoke commissions, depending on the wishes of the client and the specific requirements of the project.

All prices displayed on www.juliabartsch.com are stated in Euros (€) and include French VAT where applicable. Shipping costs, customs duties and import taxes are not included in the product price unless expressly stated otherwise. Applicable shipping charges are calculated during checkout before the order is confirmed. For deliveries outside the European Union, local customs duties, import taxes and carrier handling fees may apply. These charges are determined by the destination country and remain the sole responsibility of the customer. Julia Bartsch reserves the right to modify product prices at any time. The price applicable to an order is the one displayed at the moment the order is confirmed. Despite every effort to ensure accuracy, pricing errors may occasionally occur. In the event of an obvious pricing error, Julia Bartsch reserves the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund before production or shipment begins.
-
Orders may be placed through www.juliabartsch.com or directly at the Paris atelier. All orders are subject to acceptance and product availability. Once an online order has been placed, an order confirmation is automatically sent by email. This confirmation acknowledges receipt of the order but does not constitute final acceptance. Julia Bartsch reserves the right to decline or cancel an order in exceptional circumstances, including but not limited to suspected fraud, pricing errors, product unavailability or circumstances beyond the atelier's reasonable control. Any payment received in such cases will be refunded in full. Customers are responsible for ensuring that all information provided during checkout, including delivery address, contact details and ring size where applicable, is complete and accurate. Should an error be identified after placing an order, customers are encouraged to contact info@juliabartsch.com as soon as possible. While every effort will be made to accommodate requested changes, modifications cannot be guaranteed once production or dispatch has begun. Orders may only be placed by individuals aged 18 years or older. Julia Bartsch reserves the right to refuse orders where previous payment disputes or fraudulent activity have occurred.
-
Online payments are securely processed through Stripe using the payment methods made available during checkout. For purchases completed at the Paris atelier or during exhibitions and pop-up events, payment may also be accepted through SumUp or other payment methods offered at the time of purchase. Orders are processed only after full payment has been successfully received, unless otherwise agreed in writing for bespoke commissions. Julia Bartsch reserves the right to suspend or cancel an order if payment cannot be authorised, is declined by the payment provider or where fraudulent activity is reasonably suspected. Ownership of all products remains with Julia Bartsch until payment has been received in full.
-
Selected collections are released as numbered limited editions. Edition numbers are allocated exclusively by the atelier according to the chronological completion of each piece. Specific edition numbers cannot be requested or reserved. Each edition number exists only once within a given collection and will never be duplicated. Every numbered piece is permanently documented within the atelier archive together with its corresponding edition number and, where applicable, the first owner's first name and country of residence. This archive forms part of the long-term documentation of Julia Bartsch's artistic practice. The allocation of an edition number does not confer any intellectual property rights or reproduction rights to the purchaser.
-
Where applicable, Julia Bartsch jewellery is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity confirming the origin and authenticity of the piece. The certificate forms part of the documentation of the jewellery and should be retained by the purchaser for future reference. Loss or damage to the certificate does not affect the ownership or authenticity of the jewellery itself. Replacement certificates may be issued at the discretion of the atelier where sufficient documentation is available. Where gemstone grading reports or diamond certificates accompany a piece, these documents remain the property of the purchaser and should likewise be carefully retained.

10.1 Initial Consultation
Every bespoke commission begins with an initial consultation during which the project, budget, preferred materials, gemstones and general design direction are discussed. The purpose of this consultation is to establish a shared understanding of the client's wishes while allowing Julia Bartsch to determine whether the proposed project aligns with the artistic language and technical standards of the atelier. Julia Bartsch reserves the right to decline commissions that fall outside the artistic vision, technical expertise or ethical values of the atelier.
10.2 Quotation & Deposit
Following the initial consultation, a written quotation is provided outlining the scope of the commission, estimated production timeline and total price. Acceptance of the quotation requires payment of a 50% non-refundable deposit. The deposit secures the commission, covers the development of the project and enables the purchase of precious metals, gemstones and other materials specifically selected for the commission. Work on the commission begins only once the deposit has been received.
10.3 Design Development
Each bespoke commission includes:
one initial design proposal
up to two reasonable rounds of design revisions
Additional revisions or substantial design changes requested after these stages may require a revised quotation before further work continues. Due to the artistic nature of the atelier, every commission involves creative interpretation. While the client actively participates throughout the design process, artistic judgement, technical decisions and aesthetic direction remain the responsibility of Julia Bartsch to ensure the integrity and quality of the finished work.
10.4 Design Approval
Production begins only after the client has provided written approval of the final design. Once approval has been given, modifications may no longer be possible or may require additional charges where changes affect production time, materials or gemstone sourcing. Any changes requested after production has commenced are subject to technical feasibility and may result in a revised quotation and production schedule. Clients are responsible for confirming ring sizes, engraving text, spelling, dates and other personalised information before providing final design approval.
10.5 Production
Every bespoke piece is handcrafted individually in the Paris atelier. Production times vary depending on the complexity of the commission, material availability and gemstone sourcing. Estimated completion dates are provided in good faith but remain indicative. Julia Bartsch shall not be held responsible for delays resulting from circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the atelier, including supplier delays, gemstone sourcing or force majeure.
10.6 Final Payment
The remaining balance becomes payable upon completion of the commission and prior to dispatch or collection. Ownership of the jewellery transfers to the client only after full payment has been received.
10.7 Delivery & Collection
Bespoke commissions may either be collected from the Paris atelier by appointment or shipped to the client. Where shipping is requested, commissions are dispatched using fully insured and tracked delivery services selected by the atelier. Should a client request an alternative shipping method or carrier, any resulting limitations in insurance or liability will be discussed and agreed upon prior to dispatch. Risk transfers to the client upon confirmed delivery of the parcel to the delivery address provided.
10.8 Cancellation
Because bespoke commissions are created specifically for each client, the statutory right of withdrawal applicable to standard online purchases does not apply. The initial deposit is non-refundable. Should the client cancel the commission after work has commenced, the deposit shall be retained by Julia Bartsch to cover design development, materials already purchased and work completed. Where production has progressed beyond the design phase, Julia Bartsch reserves the right to invoice additional work already carried out.
10.9 Copyright & Intellectual Property
Purchasing a bespoke commission transfers ownership of the finished physical object only. All copyright, design rights and intellectual property relating to the commissioned work remain exclusively with Julia Bartsch. The client may not reproduce, manufacture, commercialise or authorise the reproduction of the design in whole or in part without prior written permission. Where several design proposals are presented during the development of a commission, only the concept selected by the client proceeds to production. All alternative sketches, concepts and proposals remain the exclusive intellectual property of Julia Bartsch and may be further developed, adapted or incorporated into future collections or commissions. The commissioned design itself likewise remains protected by copyright. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the purchase of a bespoke piece does not grant the client any right to reproduce, manufacture, license or commercially exploit the design beyond ownership of the individual piece.
10.10 Preparatory Work
All sketches, drawings, wax sculptures, wax models, wire studies, maquettes, prototypes, CAD files (where applicable) and all other preparatory work created throughout the design process remain the exclusive intellectual property of Julia Bartsch, irrespective of whether they are selected for production.
10.11 Photography
Julia Bartsch reserves the right to photograph completed bespoke commissions for documentation, portfolio and communication purposes.Personal information relating to the client will never be disclosed without prior consent. Clients wishing to keep a commission confidential are encouraged to communicate this before production begins.
10.12 Communication
To ensure accurate documentation throughout the commission, quotations, invoices, design approvals and other contractual communications are conducted by email. During production, additional photographs, videos and progress updates may also be shared via WhatsApp, Instagram or iMessage where appropriate. These communication channels are intended solely for visual updates and do not replace formal contractual correspondence conducted by email.
-
Shipping, delivery, atelier collection, exchanges, returns and repair services are governed by the Shipping & Returns page published on www.juliabartsch.com, which forms an integral part of these Terms & Conditions. Customers are encouraged to read this information carefully before placing an order. For online purchases, the statutory right of withdrawal applies only where required by applicable consumer legislation and is subject to the exclusions described in the Shipping & Returns policy, including but not limited to personalised or engraved jewellery and bespoke commissions.

Julia Bartsch jewellery is handcrafted to accompany its wearer for many years. All jewellery is covered by a twelve (12) month craftsmanship guarantee from the date of delivery or collection. During this period, Julia Bartsch will inspect any reported manufacturing defect and, where appropriate, repair the piece without charge. This guarantee applies exclusively to defects resulting from the manufacturing process.
The guarantee does not cover:
normal wear and tear;
scratches, dents or surface marks resulting from everyday use;
accidental damage, impact or misuse;
improper care or storage;
exposure to chemicals or corrosive substances;
damage caused by modifications or repairs carried out by third parties;
loss, theft or accidental disappearance of the jewellery;
damage resulting from failure to follow the Jewellery Care recommendations published on the website.
Certain gemstones may naturally require periodic inspection depending on the way the jewellery is worn. Julia Bartsch recommends having jewellery professionally checked from time to time, particularly for pieces intended for daily wear. Outside the guarantee period, repairs, resizing and restoration services may be available depending on the design and technical feasibility. Such services are quoted individually.

However, bespoke commissions created for an individual client will never be reproduced as identical designs for another client. The content of this website, including photographs, texts, drawings, wax models, jewellery designs and other creative material, may not be used to train artificial intelligence systems or machine learning models, nor may it be used to generate derivative content through artificial intelligence without prior written permission.
