about Julia

German-born designer and artisan Julia Bartsch develops sculptural jewellery and objects between contemporary design and craftsmanship. Her practice centres on numbered one-of-a-kind pieces with a collectible character, alongside bespoke commissions created for clients.

After studying design and spending the first part of her career working internationally as a jewellery designer for fashion houses and freelance clients, she gradually shifted her practice towards artisanal jewellery making in search of a more direct relationship with materials and the creative process. Entirely self-taught in jewellery making, she established her own atelier in Paris in 2021, choosing an independent practice where every piece is imagined, sculpted and finished by her own hands.

Her visual language has been shaped between Berlin, Stockholm and Paris, cities where she lived and worked throughout her career, and combines the creative sensibility developed through years of design experience with a strong commitment to artisanal values and savoir- faire.  

Following a two-year residency at Les Ateliers de Paris (2023–2025), Julia established her atelier at the Cité des Taillandiers in Paris' 11th arrondissement. Through residencies, collaborations and an active involvement within the local creative community, Julia has developed strong ties to both the artisanal jewellery scene and the wider design ecosystem in Paris.
