Often marking an important relationship or milestone in life, bespoke commissions are among the most personal objects Julia creates. Being entrusted with such projects is what makes bespoke work so special to her.
As most clients commission a bespoke piece only once in their lifetime, Julia considers the experience itself to be just as important as the finished piece. Throughout the process, she maintains a close exchange with her clients, sharing key stages of the making and allowing them to follow the evolution from initial idea to the finished jewellery piece.
Each commission is an opportunity to explore new creative concepts while remaining strongly connected to the artisanal values and aesthetic language that define Julia's work. Rather than simply executing a design, she approaches each commission as a creative collaboration, bringing together the client's personal story with her own artistic vision and artisanal savoir-faire.
Bespoke commissions also offer the possibility to explore materials beyond those found in the atelier's collections. Julia works with a wide range of precious metals and gemstones and can incorporate client-owned stones or assist in sourcing materials for a project.

You don't need to arrive with a finished concept. Developing that vision together is an essential part of the bespoke experience. The most helpful starting point is to have an idea of your budget, as this largely determines the choice of materials, gemstones and the overall scope of the project. You may also wish to consider whether you would like to incorporate a gemstone. The exact stone, its shape and quality can then be selected together during the design process.

Throughout the process, you will be involved in the key decisions, from the initial concept to the selection of materials and gemstones. The finished piece is the result of a collaborative process, bringing together your story with Julia Bartsch's sculptural language and artistic interpretation.

Each commission is individually priced according to the chosen material, the complexity of the design, the time required to create it and the selection of any gemstones. Following the initial consultation, a detailed quotation is prepared before work begins, ensuring complete transparency throughout the process.

Yes. Every bespoke project begins with a conversation about your preferences, budget and the role the stone should play within the design. Natural and laboratory-grown diamonds, as well as a wide selection of coloured gemstones, can be sourced specifically for your project.
If you already own a diamond or gemstone with sentimental value, it may also be possible to incorporate it into a new design, provided the stone is technically suitable.

The timeframe depends on the complexity of the project, material availability, sourcing of gemstones and general workload of the atelier. Most bespoke commissions are completed within 6–8 weeks, although particularly complex projects or rare stone sourcing may require additional time. If your commission is intended for a specific occasion, it is recommended to get in touch as early as possible.

The most accurate option is to visit the Paris atelier for a complimentary ring sizing. Clients outside Paris are encouraged to visit a trusted local jeweller or request a complimentary ring sizer. If the piece is intended as a surprise gift, alternative solutions can usually be found to estimate the correct ring size before production begins.
