THE SAPPHIRE EDITION
The Sapphire Edition marks the third chapter of my unique pieces. In the past editions, Julia explored the body as a sculpture, working with metal folds in larger volumes, in which semi-precious stones were carefully concealed. This new series moves towards something more refined. The folds sit closer to the body, almost like a second skin, while natural sapphires now become the central focus of the pieces.

Eleven one-of-a-kind rings centred around natural sapphires. Each piece is individually numbered and hand sculpted by Julia in her Paris atelier.
Dynamic silver curves layer on top of one another and rise upwards until they fuse with a tilted 0.9 ct natural sapphire, laying close to the wearer’s skin. Being set from three sides, the stone’s back is exposed, which allows the light to glisten through and intensify the depth of its crisp, ocean-blue colour.

Silver and sapphire were brought together for their shared sense of longevity and endurance, with the intention of creating jewellery that accompanies the wearer over many years. Sapphires were chosen for their unexpected shades, specifically the muted and pale tones. Each stone was selected individually for its inner landscape: subtle inclusions, natural variations and traces of time that give every sapphire its own singularity and depth. They were not selected for perfection, but more so for their authentic natural character.
Each of the eleven rings is hand sculpted individually in wax before being cast in silver using the lost-wax technique. Because of the complexity of the folded structures, the rings cannot be molded or reproduced, allowing them to remain one-of-a-kind, numbered pieces.
One of the largest sapphires in this series, carefully embedded in organic silver folds that hold and seem to melt around the stone. The distinctively translucent surface of this 1.64 ct natural sapphire catches the light gracefully, making it a one of a kind statement piece.
